Ricky Young Becomes the President of the Automotive Recyclers Association

MANASSAS, VA – Professional Automotive Recycler Ricky Young, of Young’s Auto Center & Salvage in Benson, North Carolina, gave his inaugural speech as the President of the Automotive Recyclers Association (ARA) at the 71st Annual ARA Convention & Exposition held October 22-25 in Nashville, Tennessee. His tenure on the Executive Committee of the Association, where he has served as Secretary, Second Vice President, and First Vice President, continues in a leading role to help shape and guide the Association’s initiatives and directives.

"I am honored to take the reigns as President of ARA and to continue to play a role in preserving and promoting the work of professional automotive recyclers,” said Young in his acceptance speech.   Young, a longstanding ARA member, is extremely active in the industry as a leading-edge automotive recycler and leader in his community.  In his first remarks as ARA President, Young recognized his wife and two sons as well as close family friends from North Carolina who travelled to Nashville for his  inaugural address.  Young is the Past President of the Carolina Automotive Recyclers Association (CAR) and thanked the many CAR members in attendance for their support.

Young has served as an ARA Director-at-Large and continues to serve as a member of the ARA Government Affairs Committee. He served as the Benson Area Chamber of Commerce President, was a recipient of his areas “Citizen of The Year” Award, and a founding member of numerous community and business organizations in his area.  His company was also awarded “Business of the Year”. Young has long served as Chairman of Government Affairs for both the Benson Area Chamber and the Carolina Automotive Recyclers Association.

Young’s Auto Center & Salvage, www.youngsautocenter.com, began in 1963 as a service station by Young’s parents, Teeny and Reba Young, in Benson, North Carolina. Dedication and persistence brought the family business to the top of the automobile recycling industry. In 1972, Ricky took over the day-to-day operations of the family business and pushed it to a new level of trendsetting and excellence, including the addition of a mobile crushing division in 1977. Today, Ricky still leads  the largest independent auto salvage dealer in the Carolinas, with six Used Green Recycled Parts® Sales Locations, Vehicle Buying Locations, a Mobile Auto Crushing Fleet, a Self Service U-Pull-It Yard, Used Parts Export Sales, all with Over 20,000 Vehicles in Inventory.

Since 1943, the Automotive Recyclers Association (ARA) represents an industry dedicated to the efficient removal and reuse of “green” automotive parts, and the proper recycling of inoperable motor vehicles. ARA represents the interests of over 4,500 auto recycling facilities in the United States and fourteen other countries around the world. With programs such as the Certified Automotive Recycler Program (CAR), Green Recycled Parts, and other partnerships, ARA members continue to provide consumers with quality, low-cost alternatives for vehicle replacement parts, while preserving our environment for a “greener” tomorrow.
