MANASSAS, VA – The Automotive Recyclers Association (ARA) announced today the selection of Ricky Young, owner of Young’s Auto Center & Salvage of Benson, NC as the Nominating Committee's choice to serve as Executive Secretary for 2011-2012.  Young will bring a depth of experience to the Association's Executive Committee reflecting his company's  blend of full service and U-pull-it automotive recycling facilities along with a number of automotive crushing operations.Young will be formally confirmed by ARA's Board of Directors at their annual meeting held this October during ARA's Convention and Exposition in Charlotte, North Carolina, October 11-15, 2011.

Young, a longstanding ARA member, is both a leader  in the industry  and  in his community. He is a successful professional who looks for opportunities to improve his business and community.  Young also understands the importance of civic involvement and promotes auto recycling in his state legislature and helps ARA represent the industry on the federal level.  He is the current President of the Carolina Auto Recyclers (CAR) and has been Chairman of the their Legislative Committee since 1992. He also has  served as an ARA Director-at-Large for several years and participates as a member of the ARA Government Affairs Committee. Young’s Auto Center & Salvage began in 1963 as a service station by Young’s parents, Teeny and Reba Young, in Benson, N.C.  Dedication and persistence brought the family business to the top of the automobile recycling industry. In 1972, Ricky took over the day-to-day operations of the family business and pushed it to a new level of trendsetting and excellence. Today, Ricky leads what has become the largest independent auto salvage dealer in the Carolinas.

Young’s has expanded to six used parts sales locations, U-pull-it Yards, a mobile auto crushing fleet as well as a global export sales division. Considered to be one of the largest auto salvage and crushing operations in the United States, Young's strives to uphold their reputation for and dedication to customer satisfaction that leads to a high rate of customer loyalty.

“ARA looks forward to the quality of leadership that Ricky Young brings to the table,” says Bill Tolpa., Chairman of ARA’s Nominating Committee. “His industry involvement is an example of excellence to ARA members and his reach into the local community represents his commitment to growing both his business and those personal connections that provide the foundation for growth through partnerships. The Association will benefit from all this experience that Ricky will contribute in his key role in leading our international organization in this crucial economic and legislative climate.”

Since 1943, the Automotive Recyclers Association (“ARA”) has represented an industry dedicated to the efficient removal and reuse of “green” automotive parts, and the proper recycling of inoperable motor vehicles.
